Supercooled ethanol extraction
Ethanol is one of the most efficient organic solvent-extraction methods used for extracting oil from raw hemp material. Ethanol is passed over the plant material in order to dissolve the active compounds in the hemp plant. Because ethanol is what is called a “polar” solvent, it will be more hydrotropic, meaning it will want to bind to the water soluble components of the plant. That is why at Broad Extracts we are using the supercooled ethanol extraction method which reduces the amount of chlorophyll, plant waxes and impurities that are pulled off during the extraction process and preserves the essential oil compounds from heat degradation.
